Ticlid InformationIMPORTANT
NOTE: THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS INTENDED TO SUPPLEMENT, NOT

WARNING: This medication has caused serious blood disorders (agranulocytosis, neutropenia, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, aplastic anemia) in some people. Symptoms may appear within the first few days of taking this medicine. Immediately tell your doctor if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: fever, weakness/fatigue, easy bruising or bleeding, or mental/mood changes. This medication should be discontinued if a serious blood disorder occurs. USES: Ticlid (Ticlopidine) prevents blood from clotting. It is used to reduce the risk of stroke. Ticlopidine should be used only when aspirin has failed to work or if patient cannot use aspirin.
SIDE
EFFECTS: Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, loss of appetite,
diarrhea, stomach pain, gas, itching, headache and dizziness
may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the
medication. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform
your doctor promptly. PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: blood
disorders, ulcers, liver problems, any allergies. DRUG
INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription
medicines you use, especially of: "blood thinners"
such as warfarin or heparin, cimetidine, digoxin, theophylline. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. NOTES:
Inform your dentist or any other doctors that you are using
this drug. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. STORAGE: Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture. |
