Lisinopril InformationIMPORTANT
NOTE: THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS INTENDED TO SUPPLEMENT, NOT

PHARMACIST OR OTHER Lisinopril
(ZESTRIL) 10MG WARNING: This drug can cause serious fetal harm if used during the last six months of pregnancy. If pregnancy occurs, stop using this drug and immediately contact your physician. USES: This medication prevents certain enzymes in the body from narrowing blood vessels. This helps to lower blood pressure and makes the heart beat stronger. This medication is used to treat high blood pressure, heart failure or to help diabetics prevent kidney problems. HOW
TO USE: This medication may be taken without regard to meals.
Take it exactly as prescribed and try to take it at the same
time each day. SIDE
EFFECTS: Headache, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, fatigue
or dry cough may occur the first several days as your body adjusts
to the medication. PRECAUTIONS:
Before taking this drug tell your doctor your medical history,
especially history of: angioedema, high blood levels of potassium,
kidney disease or kidney dialysis, salt restrictive diet, liver
disease, heart problems, any drug allergies. DRUG
INTERACTIONS: Inform your doctor about all the medicine
you use (both prescription and nonprescription), especially
if you take: lithium, potassium supplements, potassium-sparing
water pills or other water pills (diuretics), high blood pressure
drugs, NSAIDs (aspirin-like drugs). Avoid "stimulant"
drugs that may increase your heart rate such as decongestants
or caffeine. Decongestants are commonly found in over-the-counter
cough-and-cold medicines. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, unconsciousness, decreased in the amount of urine, or muscle weakness. NOTES:
It is important to have your blood pressure checked regularly
while taking this medication. Learn how to monitor your blood
pressure. Discuss this with your doctor. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. STORAGE:
Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture. Do
not store in the bathroom. |
